 | While most of these are quite basic furnishings, the Tardis is an interesting part of the room. Like "The Doctor's" Tardis from Dr Who, it's bigger on the inside than the outside. It contains the sink, and plenty of storage for any items you wish. Each room has a different view of Canberra, ranging from Black Mountain to Lake Burley Griffin to the ANU campus. |
Larger Rooms There is a limited number of larger rooms available in the undergraduate area. However, demand for these rooms exceeds the number available. Burgmann cannot guarantee students will be given a larger room. All larger rooms come with either a double or queen-sized bed. Many feature two tables, and may have furniture such as sofas and two-seater chairs as well. There are three types of larger rooms: Double rooms These are two single rooms joined together with an internal doorway. These rooms typically have a double bed, a single TARDIS in one room, and a metal cupboard.
Facilities The largest residential rooms on campus! (We've checked!) Containing a large built-in wardrobe (large enough to fit no less than 14 residents.. (Again, we've checked!) and a private ensuite. These rooms typically, but not always have a queen-sized bed. Windows These rooms are slightly larger than the size of a double room, and have full-sized sliding windows with a window box for flowers. These rooms can have either a queen or double bed.
Postgraduate VillageThe Village was built in 2003 and officially opened in 2004. The development was necessary to accommodate more Medical, Honours, Masters and PhD students. It has six buildings with four types of accommodation: Postgraduate residences are self-catered, although optional meal packages are available. However, Sunday dinners are included in the rent. Each block has a residential tutor to look after the affairs of residents, or just plain chat. For people living in a 2, 3 or 5-bedroom apartments, residents may share with people of opposite sex. Residents are required to keep their own flats/studios clean. There is a room inspection on the last Friday of each month. For flats, only the common living area is inspected. A warning will be issued if anything is unsatisfactory, with a follow-up inspection a week later. Failing room inspections repeatedly may result in a fine for the entire flat. | "The Street" Postgraduate Village

5-Bedroom Apartments| Each unit has a shared kitchen: which has plenty of cupboards for storage space, four hot plates and an oven. There two showers and two toilets. However, a disabled unit has a different configuration. Each resident in the flat has a private room containing a standard single bed and a study desk. A TV port is available but residents must provide their own coaxial cables -- there is an external antenna on top of each building. | Typical Postgraduate Room |
2 & 3-Bedroom Apartments 2 Bedroom Flat Kitchen
| At the ground floor of each building there is one 2-bedroom apartment. Some are given to the residential tutors of each block. There are other flats of this type available. The 3-bedroom apartments are identical to the 2-bedroom ones, with an extra room and a bigger common area. There are only four 3-bedroom apartments, one of which is occupied by the Dean or Deputy Principal after hours. The facilities for these two types of apartments are the same as the 5-bedroom ones. | Common Area in a 2 Bedroom Flat |
Studio| Due to the high demand for studios, first year postgraduate residents can apply but are not guaranteed to be given a studio apartment. These are self-contained units which include a double bed, desk, kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen only has two hot plates and a microwave oven. | Studio Apartment
