How and When to ApplyA summary of the ANU’s official guide on how to apply for accommodation at any of the halls and colleges on campus is listed below. There are three very important points to remember in relation to your application. They are the closing date, the need to include contact details of referees, one academic and one personal, and to list Burgmann as your first preference. 2009 Application Guide For ANU Halls & Affiliated CollegesWho Can Apply?Current and prospective full-time ANU & ANUTECH students can apply for accommodation at the halls and affiliated colleges. ACT residents will not be considered unless exceptional circumstances exist.
When Do I Have To Apply?2009 Semester 1 accommodation applications opened on 30 August 2008. In order to have your application considered it should be made online to the UAS office as early as possible as places are limited. 2009 Semester 2 accommodation applications will open in April 2009. In order to have your application considered, it must reach UAS office by the close of business on 25 June 2009. As soon as you decide the ANU is on your preference list, apply for accommodation. No late applications will be accepted. Who Is Offered A Room? Each hall and college has their own selection criteria when seeking future residents. Selections are based upon contributions you can make to the hall or college through your academic awards, sporting and social achievements, leadership roles, cultural pursuits and your local community involvement. Interest and merit in these areas will be looked upon favourably in the selection process. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be allocated a room. When Will I Find Out If I Get A Room? Not until after the closing date: Semester 1 2009 – Allocations will be finalised AFTER the release of the UAC/VTAC academic results, late January. Semester 2 2009 – Allocations will be finalised at the end of May and applicants can expect to be notified whether they are successful or not by early June 2009.
What Happens If I Don’t Get A Room?Lodgement of an application does NOT guarantee a place in a hall or college.
