How much does it cost to stay at Burgmann?

Are there double rooms available?
There are double rooms in College; they vary in features – some have picture windows and flower boxes, couches or easy chairs, others en suites. They are generally reserved for Tutors and residents in their third or later year at College.

Is there a self-catered option?
For new Undergraduates only fully-catered accommodation is provided. Those Postgraduate and later year students who qualify for the self-catered accommodation have the option to use the College Dining Hall on a cost per meal basis or choosing one of the meal options available.

Lunches can be ordered and picked up from the Dining Hall to allow residents the option of eating away. Late evening meals can also provided if pre-ordered. These can be picked up from the College Dining Hall and warmed up in the microwave.

Is linen provided?
Generally residents bring their own linen, although the College can provide this for overseas students at a nominal fee.

Can guests stay overnight?
Guests are welcome to stay in resident’s rooms overnight, with any meals taken charged to the resident’s account. The College can provide a fold-up bed for guests. If linen is required a small fee is applied. The host resident is responsible for any of their guests.

What about security at College?
In addition to two levels of staff on duty at all times, there are up to date access systems and CCTV is installed. Residents are also urged to take care of their own and others’ property. ANU Security also provides many services to the residential colleges and halls.

What about parking?
Parking on campus comes under the ANU’s jurisdiction. Parking is available around the College in surface parking and in the multistorey car park adjacent to the College grounds. The College can guarantee that up to 58 members can gain secure, designated parking in the car park building. Additional places are available in that structure on a first come, first served basis. The fees vary within the structure, and they reflect the different levels of security provided. Parking is often a vexing business, however, bicycles can be a satisfactory solution for many residents. ANU’s parking details are at http://transport.anu.edu.au

What do I do if I've just arrived? Will the Parking Inspectors get me?

Short-term guests or new residents may ask for a temporary parking permit from reception. However these permits have a maximum length of 10 days. If you plan on staying longer than this, you will need to talk to the people at ANU transport (Located in the John Yencken Building) Their website is located above.

Can we pay fees by credit card if accepted into Burgmann?
Credit card payment is possible over the phone or in person, with a small handling fee. EFTPOS and cheque facilities are also available.

If I sign up to become a resident at Burgmann College, do I receive a free set of steak knives?
