Our Location

Burgmann College is located at a corner on the west side of the scenic Australian National University (ANU) campus. Please see the area circled in red on the map below. Few houses in Canberra can match the convenience of on-campus accommodation. It is possible to walk to lectures, tutorials, and laboratory classes within 10 minutes. The time saved from this convenience can be more productively used for study, working, or relaxation purposes.

Aside from the convenience of travel to and from formal classes, on-campus living also provides easier access to lecturers and univesity tutors. This is particularly useful in dealing with difficult topics, subjects, or merely asking questions outside of normal class times.

The ANU provides a number of important services which on-campus accommodation can provide easy access to. Some examples of these services are:

  • Academic Skills & Learning Centre
  • Library Access
  • Health Service (Doctor/GP)
  • Counselling Centre
  • ANU Chaplaincy
  • University Security
  • Within 5-10 minutes walking distance from the College, you can reach Lake Burley Griffin, the Australian National Botanic Gardens and the National Museum of Australia. This puts college in the middle of a beautiful area of Canberra, with a variety of colours throughout the year.

The ANU campus is bordered by a shopping area of Canberra called "Civic". It is home to the Canberra Centre, specialty shops, supermarkets, as well as a variety of clubs, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Canberra has exceptional public transport for those who don't have their own vehicles. For a complete list of bus routes and timetables to anywhere in the ACT, please visit Action Buses. While Burgmann College is centrally and conveniently located in Canberra, residents often use buses for travelling to some of the more distant areas of the ACT, or when the weather is unpleasant.

Canberra has a lot to offer both tourists and university students. Obviously we can't put everything here. However for a great starting point please see the Canberra Tourism for more information about the activities, sites, events, and most importantly the food and entertainment guide.
