Burgmann Residents' Association (BRA) The Burgmann Residents’ Association (BRA) is at the heart of Burgmann College as the body responsible for organising co-curricular activities, social events and representing the residents’ views. It works with the other ANU residents’ associations to organise inter-hall arts, sports and social events throughout the year. All residents elect the BRA committee and sub-committees once a year. Diverse. BRA distinguishes itself from other residents’ associations by its opportunities for all residents to not only participate in activities but to co-ordinate them as well. Residents are encouraged to bring forward new initiatives so that all residents have the best possible experience, regardless of their interests. The association has a number of sub-committees which allows more residents to be responsible for the year’s events and to take on leadership roles.
College Direction. BRA also has an important role in the college’s governance structure, with residents sitting on College Council and all the sub-committees (Board of Management, Audit and Risk and Finance). This ensures that residents have a strong input in the governance of the College and can contribute to its future direction. The BRA President along with several other residents elected once a year sit on these committees.
Structure. BRA is an unincorporated association of which all Burgmann residents are members. The BRA House Committee is elected at the end of the year and comprises the Executive (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer), 2 Arts Reps, 4 Sports Reps, 1 Community Rep, 1 Post-graduate rep, 1 International Rep and 4 first year “whips” (first year reps). The sub-committees are elected at the start of the year. Please see the links below for information about the specific sections of BRA.
