Burgmann College is thrilled to announce and welcome Dr Waratah Lahy to the College’s Advancement Team. Following an extensive and competitive recruitment process, Waratah was selected as the outstanding candidate for the Advancement Officer role.
Over the past twenty years, Waratah has worked across a number of academic and administrative roles at the ANU School of Art and Design. As an Academic staff member, Waratah taught courses in painting, print media and drawing, foundation studies and life drawing. As a Professional staff member, Waratah was most recently the School’s Impact and Engagement Officer (since 2009), where her responsibilities included developing and implementing an annual calendar of public events, and administering and delivering public programs including the Sharing Stories Arts Exchange.
Known for her ability to develop and sustain relationships, Waratah is an experienced public speaker and has served on numerous committees. Waratah coordinated the School’s social media communications, worked with diverse stakeholders, and oversaw the annual Emerging Artists Support Scheme program. Waratah was the driving force behind the School of Art and Design’s 40th Anniversary Event program in 2017, and its capstone ‘Ruby Ball’ event which was enjoyed by approximately 600 attendees.
Waratah is also an award-winning artist who has had 19 solo exhibitions to date. Her work is held in numerous public collections, including the (Australian) Parliament House Art Collection.
Waratah brings a wealth of experience and skills to this new role. We are excited to welcome Waratah to the Burgmann College team and community.
