Why Choose Burgmann?

The Burgmann Postgraduate Village, which opened in 2004, is more than just a place to live - it is a vibrant community of postgraduate residents in a stunning corner of the ANU campus next to Lake Burley Griffin. The Postgraduate Village has the National Botanic Gardens as its backyard and everything on campus is only a short walk or bike ride away. Canberra’s city centre (called Civic) is within walking distance and provides plenty of restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs to visit whilst you take a break from your study. Public transport is readily available with a bus stop out the front of the College.

We welcome all community minded postgraduate students and early career researchers who are focussed academically and in other ways, and wish to work seriously to achieve their goals. This includes student in graduate entry courses such as Medicine and Juris Doctor and a small number of honours students.

The Burgmann Postgraduate Village prides itself on its community spirit. There are many opportunities to get involved in sports and arts activities in an environment with a strong culture of participation. Regular social activities provide an opportunity to relax with fellow residents.

What do some Postgraduate Residents think of the Postgraduate Village?

Lacy Davey PhD (International Relations)

"For my first time away from home to study, Burgmann was the best choice. It is modern and safe, and the community of students is like a family away from home. The facilities and services are excellent, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable."

Kevin Wang PhD (Bioinformatics)

"I had never lived in an on-campus accommodation prior to studying at the ANU. I always thought (from watching some Hollywood movies) that they are like military bunkers where everyone sleeps in a big hall without any privacy. After having a tour at the postgraduate village, I was extremely impressed with the modern design of the rooms as well as the privacy available to me."
