Just as the heart of a home is often the kitchen, so is the Dining Hall at Burgmann College. Staff and residents come together to connect, encourage each other, and enjoy fellowship over a range of delicious meal options.
Burgmann promotes the ‘Table Rule’: the tradition of joining others sitting at tables, until a table is filled before starting a new table. This helps new residents to connect and form relationships with others.
The Dining Hall is also used for many events that are held onsite including Orientation Week, Bush Week, special dinners, guest speakers, Burgmann Resident Association events, trivia and talent nights. Special Celebration meals are provided during the year including Commencement Dinner, NAIDOC Week Bush Luncheon, Valete and Christmas in July. These are held both onsite and at venues across Canberra.
Burgmann College contracts Chartwells catering for all meals. Chartwells caters for all dietary requirements including, and not limited to, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, coeliac, halal, kosher and nut allergies. If you require any special meal plans our experienced kitchen staff are ready to assist you.
Burgmann College residents have three catering options: Fully Catered, Self-Catered and Flexi-Catered.

This is the only catering option for Undergraduate students residing in Homer, Barassi and Mortlock wings.
It includes 21 meals a week: breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The fully catered plan is not available for residents in the Village.
This meal plan is available for Village residents only. Being on a self-catered plan means you cook your own meals in your apartment.
All residents on self-catered meal plans are given 3 free meals a week in our dining hall: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday dinners.
Village residents can change their meal plan during the year. Only one change is accepted per semester to a catering plan, which will affect accommodation costs and payment plans.
This meal plan is available for Village residents only.
A flexi catered meal plan offers two meals per day / 14 meals week in our dining hall. These can be a combination of meal options per day:
If the two-meal option is not utilised in the day, they do not accrue for bulk use later.
LIMITATION: Village residents can change their meal plan once only during their contracted period.
