By Womens+ GSEA Peggy O'Sullivan (She/Her)
Hey everyone! I’m Peggy, and I’m incredibly grateful to be serving as the 2025 Women’s+ GSEA. It’s been such a privilege to take on this role and continue the amazing work of those who came before me. This year, my main goal has been to nurture a positive, uplifting, and inclusive community.
Semester 1 has been off to a fantastic start for the Women’s+ community at Burg. We’ve focused on strengthening the already vibrant community spirit and creating opportunities for everyone to come together and connect.
During O-Week, the GSEA team ran a safe going-out event, and we were thrilled by the turnout! It was encouraging to see first-year residents keen to engage and ready to learn how to enjoy their nights out safely and confidently.
Our ‘Nights In’ event series saw incredible attendance and engagement. Our Women’s+ community discussion night covered meaningful topics like the importance of female friendships, mental health, sexuality, and the unique challenges faced by Women’s+ students at Burg. It was also a valuable opportunity to open up conversations with the Men’s+ community about how they can best support and stand alongside Women’s+ members.
In Term 2, The Womens+ community hosted a mood board-making session where we visualised our personal and collective goals for the semester. With snacks, music, and lots of chatting, it turned into such a wholesome, feel-good evening with a fantastic turnout.
Looking ahead, we’re launching fortnightly Women’s+ Chats in Semester 2, a dedicated space for open, honest conversations about issues that matter most to our community. We hope to continue building a culture of support, connection, and empowerment.
Serving as GSEA has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my time at College. I’m so honoured to represent such a dynamic and diverse community and am incredibly thankful for the support systems that make this role possible. I can’t wait for what’s to come next semester!
