To keep our alumni community connected with the current happenings at Burgmann College, our Advancement Office is assisted by an enthusiastic team of residents who are keen to foster relationships between current Burgmann residents and our incredible Burgmann alumni and friends, cultivating professional connections and mentorships and organising event opportunities.
Our 2025 Resident Alumni Engagement Team comprises:
Angus Arbuthnott
Angus is from Wellington, New Zealand, and is studying a double degree of a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of International Relations, with hopes to work in foreign policy for either the Australian or New Zealand government after graduating university. He's involved in Burg Sport and Arts, particularly soccer and the Burg play. He's a part of several subcommittees and is the Editor in Chief of The Burgmann Journal. Angus says he's excited to engage with the alumni community because he 'really enjoy[s] interacting with people, getting to know them and their story. What makes the Burgmann alumni special to me, though, is two things: First is the familial nature of the Burgmann community, such that I already feel like I have a connection to all the Burgmann alumni. Second is just how many awesome Burg alumni there are, people doing absolutely awesome things, in all spaces across Australia and the world.'
Charlotte Gillies
Charlotte is from Brisbane, and is studying International Security with the intention to secure a career in government contributing to policy development and security strategies, or continue the work she is currently engaged in with the Red Cross, assisting in disaster relief and humanitarian aid. She's excited to learn more about Burgmann alumni, hearing about their diverse experiences from their time at College, alongside helping current Burgmann residents and providing them with a positive experience during their time at College.
Kritika Halder
Kritika is from India, and is pursuing a Master of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics, with a goal to further her education with a Ph.D. in astrophysics. She's an academic mentor, a huge supporter of Burg Sport, and loves socialising with fellow Burgies. She says she loves 'contributing to the vibrant culture of Burgmann and fostering a sense of belonging for all residents,' and looks forward to engaging with the alumni community. 'Burgmann has such a rich history of community and connection, and I’m excited to engage with our alumni to help keep that spirit alive. Hearing their stories, learning from their experiences, and creating opportunities for them to stay connected with the College is something I truly value. Burgmann is more than just a place to live—it’s a lifelong community, and I’m excited to help strengthen those ties across generations.'
