Back to Burg table

You're invited: BCAA President Matthew Lobb encourages registering for exciting upcoming Burgmann events

At Burgmann, we take pride in our rich traditions and vibrant events. Think Barnights, Burg Day, Dawborn, and Monsterbrain — all unique and sensational parts of life at the College.

A more recent addition that’s quickly become a calendar highlight is Parents Weekend. For many residents, College is their first time living away from home, and this special weekend offers a meaningful opportunity to share the Burgmann experience with their families.

It’s a time for parents to see firsthand the supportive, lively community their children are part of, where lifelong friendships are formed and residents actively shape the community and culture around them.

This year’s Parents Weekend Gala Dinner gave us an extra reason to celebrate. We were thrilled to honour Evie Tilley as the first recipient of the Harriet Nixon Scholarship. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the Burgmann community come together to create opportunities for regional students to benefit from the full College experience. We’re excited about growing this program and hope to offer even more scholarships in the future.

More events are on the way later this year, including our first-ever events in Brisbane, Perth, and New York, USA.

Our Sydney and Melbourne alumni events are now firm favourites on the social calendars of these great cities, and they're proving to be perfect for reconnecting with old friends.

We get it: Reunions can feel a little daunting. But those who’ve come along always say how glad they were to take the leap. Groups of friends are using the Melbourne and Sydney events as an annual catch-up and a chance to reconnect with people they’ve lost touch with. So, gather your crew and join in!

All of this is the warm-up for the big one — the annual Back-to-Burg Weekend held over the weekend of 6–7 September!

A highlight of Back-to-Burg will be the announcement of this year’s Burgmann Alumni Awards recipients at Saturday’s Gala Dinner. Last year’s recipients were truly inspiring, and we know there are more amazing stories to uncover.

Finally, if you’d like to get involved with the Burgmann College Alumni Association (BCAA) we’d love to hear from you! We already have a fantastic mix of committee members and volunteers, and we’re always keen to welcome more.
