Burgies Unite: Burgmann Alumni Reconnecting All Over the World

A recent get-together of Burgmann alumni in London has sparked an offshoot event planned for Singapore in 2024. Hosted by Burgmann alumni John Dauth, AO, LVO, OBE (1972–1974) and Rebecca Hossack (1976–1977), the November “Lunch in London” event started with a lunch held in a private room at Law of the Land, a traditional British pub in Fitzrovia, followed by chocolates and coffee at Hossack’s nearby Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery.

“It’s not often you sit down at a table of strangers and two hours later feel like you have known them forever—and want to see them again,” said Hossack.

“[The event] was a nice reminder of how important those years at Burgmann were for all of us and amazing to hear everyone’s experiences and stories, in a perfect setting with great food,” said alumna Kirsty MacKenzie (1988–1991). “I thought it was very telling that three people out of the group had stories of changing a first-choice college—and even university—to move to Burgmann!”

Mark your 2024 calendars now, as there will be another London reunion event on Wednesday, June 5 at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery from 6:00 PM–8:00 PM.

Alumna Bronwyn Young (1978–1980, 1983–1985) is currently based in Germany and interested in o rganising an alumni reunion event in 2024 for those in Germany or nearby areas of Europe. If you’re interested in more information about this reunion, please email
