Burgmann alumnus awarded 2014 John Monash Scholarship

Burgmann alumnus Jack Muir has been awarded a $180,000 John Monash Scholarship, which is partly funded by One Foundation, to study science at a prestigious American university of his choice.

Jack is completing a Bachelor of Philosophy (Science) with Honours from the ANU and specialises in Geophysics, the study of Earth's core. His work involves tomographic mapping of the Earth's core that could lead to less intrusive mineral exploration and more sophisticated predictions of seismic activity.

The three-year John Monash Scholarship is part of a broader scheme to encourage more students to study science.

The College would like to congratulate Jack and wish him well in this next academic chapter.
