Burgmann Residents compete at the 2026 Team Racing World Championship

In August, two Burgmann College residents took Australian colours to Sweden, competing at the 2026 Team Racing World Championship in Stockholm from 12–16 August.
Charlotte Wormald, currently studying Commerce, and Lachie Weber, undertaking a double degree in Commerce and Arts, were selected among just eight sailors nationwide to represent Australia and Oceania, part of a young squad with an average age of only 21, going up against Olympic-calibre competitors from countries such as Sweden, Finland, Japan and the USA.

Racing on Riddarfjärden in the heart of Stockholm, the team held their own in tight, arena-style courses and shifting conditions, recording a win over Japan.
Beyond the racing, the team was visited by the Deputy Australian Ambassador to Sweden and hosted by the Mayor of Stockholm at Stockholm City Hall. The historic venue famous for hosting the Nobel Prize banquet each year.
It was a rare opportunity to compete at this level, made possible by the support of family, coaches and club with both sailors grateful to have had the opportunity to represent Australia while living and studying at Burgmann.
