Please join us in welcoming Monika Popovski to the inaugural role of Dean of Academic Programs and Employability. Commencing 19 January 2026, this exciting new role is dedicated to fostering intellectual life and enhancing the career readiness of Burgmann residents.
Monika has a well-established background in university residential college life, having held residential leadership positions at the Women’s College (University of Sydney) and Wilam Hall (University of Melbourne) where she played key roles in supporting pastoral care, postgraduate life, and student success.
Monika has a strong academic background in education, teaching in school and tertiary environments. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary) (Honours I) from the University of Sydney and Doctor of Philosophy (Sociology of Education) from the University of Melbourne (currently under examination). Monika has a keen interest in fostering supportive learning environments that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and respectful dialogue as students engage with new and challenging knowledge.
Monika reflects on her appointment, 'Burgmann College, with its unique positioning within the ANU community, illustrious alumni community, and strong community values, is well-positioned to support students as confident and capable change-makers during their time at university and beyond.'
