Casino Royale Comes to Gold Creek

As the sun set on the 20th of August, the buses pulled up at Gold Creek Station and ressies, ex-ressies and their plus-ones stepped out onto a red carpet. The 2026 Burgmann Ball, one of the most anticipated nights on the college calendar, had officially begun.
Before I go further, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Craig for hosting us on his beautiful property for the fourth-year running. Gold Creek has become like a second home for the Burg community, and we're very lucky to have access to it.
This year’s theme was Casino Royale, which saw Gold Creek decked out with giant statues of playing cards and lots of casino games. Every guest received $100 in fake money on arrival and could choose between blackjack, roulette, and a spinning wheel. Some played it safe, others lost everything on red, and by the end of the night, the top players had walked away with thousands, but the real prize was the hours spent laughing around the tables with friends.
Shifts at the casino were broken up with stints on the dance floor, which was alive all night with entertainment provided by our amazing BNO band and DJs. Between sets, guests enjoyed cocktails, a photo booth, and a mouth-watering spread of sweet and savoury snacks. I am still fantasising about the arancini balls and prawn skewers weeks later. Nights like these don’t run on luck, with months of meticulous planning behind every detail. A massive congratulations, and thank you, to the Ball committee: Killian, Sasha, Tom, Cate, Celia, Genevieve, Tali, Mason, Alex, and Eva, along with their Chair Suki. How smoothly the event ran, first bus to last song, is a testament to all your dedication.
It is on nights like these, when we dress up, come together, and spend quality time, that the Burgmann spirit is on full display.
