Burgmann sends its condolences to the Imperial Family of Japan

The College sent its condolences to the Imperial Family of Japan for the passing of Burgmann alumnus His Imperial Highness Prince Katsura.

The late Prince Katsura was a student at the ANU and a resident of Burgmann College in the early 1970s. He attended the ANU and lived at Burgmann College with the intention of broadening his international outlook and enabling him to see Japan from an Australian perspective.

When he returned to Japan, he served as President of the Japan Australia New Zealand Society (JANZ) and the Agricultural Society of Japan, amongst many other national organisations. The late Prince Katsura is the son of His Imperial Highness Prince Mikasa who is the uncle of His Majesty Emperor Akihito.
