A new star cluster was discovered by Burgmann resident Dongwon Kim after conducting the Stromlo Milky Way Survey at ANU with a team of astronomers.
The new cluster, named Kim 2, is a handful of stars located far away in the Milky Way suburbs, and is about ten times more distant than the average globular star cluster in the halo of our galaxy.
This article by Gemini Observatory provides more information on this interesting discovery.
Burgmann College congratulates Dongwon on this historical discovery and wish him all the best in future projects!
