Generous Donor Funds Two Communications Interns for Burgmann

In 2026, Burgmann College set out to create a meaningful opportunity for residents to become actively involved in College communications and to play a role in shaping how we connect with our wider community. To bring this vision to life, we opened applications for a newly created Communications Intern position, inviting students to contribute their ideas, creativity and skills. The response exceeded all expectations and we were truly blown away by the calibre of talent, enthusiasm and insight demonstrated by every student who applied.

Narrowing the field proved to be no easy task. After careful consideration, we managed to shortlist three outstanding candidates, which was a difficult decision in itself, and were already preparing to invite them back for a second round of interviews. However, an unexpected and wonderful development changed everything. Through the extraordinary generosity of a donor, we received the incredible news that funding would be made available for all three interns. Thanks to this act of support, each of our top candidates was able to join the Communications team, turning what could have been a tough decision into an exciting opportunity for collaboration, growth and creativity.

We are so proud to introduce Celia Watson, Tom Henchliffe and Aaron Wei as our 2026 Communications Interns and wish them huge congratulations on their appointment!

Meet Celia: A first year, studying Arts/Law, who is an exceptional storyteller. She has a talent for crafting compelling content, and has already produced standout reels that capture the spirit of Burgmann College life. Celia has said that she is so happy to have this opportunity, and that it’s already made her feel more involved in the college and like she’s making a small but existent impact.

Meet Tom: A second year, studying Law and International Security Studies. Tom brings his expertise in film and photography, creating striking visuals that showcase Burgmann from every angle.

Meet in Aaron: first year, studying Politics, Philosophy and economics. Aaron is our Canva whiz, with a keen eye for design and a love for creating eye‑catching social media carousels that bring stories and posts to life. Aaron's goald is for the College's social media to better reflect the college life, spotlighting student initiatives, events and culture. He also wants current residents to be able to see themselves reflected in the College's socials, reinforcing that they have a role in Burgmann's development and future.

Each intern brings their own unique strengths, fresh ideas and infectious enthusiasm, and their impact has already been felt across College life. You may have spotted their individual voices and creative flair shining through Burgmann’s social media channels, where each has added something distinctly their own. Their first major project was an Instagram takeover for Open Day, which was a resounding success, showcasing their talents in video production, photography, storytelling and editing.

We are deeply grateful to our donor, whose generosity made it possible to welcome all three interns into the Burgmann College staff team. This support has not only enabled these talented residents to gain hands‑on professional experience, but has also enriched our community by empowering students to help tell the Burgmann story from the inside out.

We warmly congratulate all three interns on their appointments and look forward to the creativity, insight and energy they will continue to bring throughout the year. If their first projects are anything to go by, we’re in for something very special.
