Alumna and Rhodes Scholar Sai Campbell (2019–2022) launched our 2023 Bursary Appeal at Family Weekend last May, and we’re delighted to report that, with thanks to the generous support of over 100 members of our community, our 2023 Bursary Appeal has raised $116,748 to date for the Burgmann College Bursary Program.
Without the support of a bursary, Sai Campbell would not have been able to take up her place to study at ANU. “I was only able to attend ANU with the assistance of the needs-based scholarships and bursaries from Burgmann,” she said. “Burgmann College’s support was transformational and speaks to the impact that college can have on a young person.”
Since graduating, Campbell has been studying at Oxford University, and has sent the following update about her latest adventures:
"Hello from Oxford!
"It’s been a wild time moving to the UK to start a Masters in global health and epidemiology. After what seemed like an incredibly long and protracted goodbye to Canberra, I was greeted upon my arrival with some of the heaviest downpour of rain the UK has apparently experienced in a while. How English!
Since I’ve started, it’s been a furiously busy—but exciting—time with class, socials, and lots of late-night sessions in the library (and perhaps too often the pub…). Oxford is impossibly wonderful with such a diversity of people and ideas. With my new friends from the UK, India, Zambia, US, Pakistan, France and more, we have explored the libraries, gardens, and various colleges. Time whizzes by quickly here, however, and as we approach winter, I’ll begin to miss sunny Australia but look back fondly on my time at Burgmann. If any Burgies are in the area please drop me a line!"
